Clooney lets Alamuddin choose their multi-million dollar English home
Actor George Clooney has recently purchased a riverside $15 million house in up market leafy area of Berkshire (south of England) for his wife Amal Alamuddin. According to reports, it was Alamuddine who settled on the location after being torn between Kent and Oxfordshire , the latter reminiscent of her university days.
The house, located across the River Thames in up market Sonning, is Clooney’s third residence in addition to his 7354-square-feet Los Angeles home which he bought from singer Stevie Nicks in 1995 and his white-colored Villa Oleandra in Laglio, Italy which he purchased in 2001.
And while the house may not live up to people’s expectations from the $180 million-worth Oscar-winner, it is one of the finest houses in the rather elitist area according to The Telegraph, with charming facilities including a state-of-the-art spa, a gym, a library, a cinema room, a boathouse and a separate two-story guest lodge.
Neighbours of the newlyweds eventually got excited about the news although were curious to the choice of location, in preference perhaps to other locations which might have suited a celebrity couple. “To be honest, I couldn’t quite believe it. Why Sonning?” one of the residents told The Telegraph. “It’s nice that he has chosen Sonning and we will make them very welcome…primary school is also very good — if they decided to have any children!” another resident added.
